Hey everyone!!! First I'd like to introduce myself! =) I'm Reggie, head drum major at Leesburg High School , Leesburg FL! This page is dedicated to the band and band members of Leesburg High School. I truly hope that you enjoy receiving a good understanding of our school as well as our rigorous, challenging, and productive program.

General Information

First off, Leesburg High School is located at 1401 W Meadows Ave., Leesburg, FL and the Main Office number is (352) 787-5047. The band has practice Monday every week from 6:30-8:30 PM and Thursday every week from 2:30-5:00P. Our marching band, the Yellow Jackets, average to approximately 140 bodies, including color guard and auxiliaries. Without the guard and auxiliary members, the band averages about 100-120 members (with usual annual fluctuation). The band has received straight Superior ratings (Superior [1], Excellent [2], Good [3], Fair [4], Poor [5]) at FBA (Florida Bandmasters Association) District Marching Band Festival for over 6 years, under the direction of Mr. Jack Hart who is now beginning another stage of his musical career at East Ridge High School located in Clermont, FL. Our theme for the 2001-2002 marching season was "Riverdance"

2001-2002 Marching Season

For the 2001-2002 marching season, the theme for our show was "Riverdance." Through hard work and lots of practice, we were able to take hold of the music and run with it! Our competition results are as follows:

    1.)   Nov. 10th, 2001 F.B.A. District XIX Marching Band Festival. Superior-Music I&II, G.E, M&M, Aux, and Percussion.

2.)  Oct. 20,2001 Daytona Beach Sunshine Festival of Bands 2001 Results: Second in Class AAA, Superior ratings in Music, Marching, General Effect, Auxiliary, Drum Majors, Percussion. Overall Superior Rating.

3.) October 13, 2001 Citrus Hurricane Pride Invitational 2001 Results: Second in Class AA, 8th in Finals; Class Superior ratings in Music, Marching, General Effect, Auxiliary, Drum Majors, Percussion. Overall Superior Rating.

Colorguard and Auxiliaries

Our colorguard and auxiliary group incorporates flag, rifle, saber, and dance into one corps. Chloe Moreland, Colorguard Captain for the 2001-2002 year took hold of the opportunity to work with a very dynamic group of individuals. In our corps, we had 25 girls who made Superior ratings at everything they went to...literally... When marching season ended, the Guard went on to do Winter Guard or Indoor Guard, competing against other auxiliary teams.

2002 - 2003 Preseason

As of now, we have completed our preseason band camp, which has shown that this year is going to be a promising one. We had approximately 80 or 85 total attend camp, but you all know that when the year begins, more and more students start to trickle in... In band camp, the goal of the director as well as the student officers was to get the freshmen especially, but the band as a whole back into the swing of things, get everyone marching correctly, and get everyone to become fully capable of executing any command, at any given time, without notice. Our camp schedule consisted was as follows:

Thursday, August 1st

Friday, August 2nd

Saturday, August 3rd

Monday, August 5th

4P-9P

4P-9P

8A-9P
